Mazda logo

mazda

The Mazda logo has many meanings within itself. The symbol is a square with soft edges around it with a “v” in the middle looking like a child’s drawing of a bird flying in the sky (which also creates the illusion of an “m”) and then sometimes the symbol has the word Mazda under it or to the side. The company’s name Mazda comes from the name comes from Ahura Mazda, the god of wisdom, intelligence and harmony in early Asian civilizations. It also derives from the name of its founder, Jujiro Matsuda. This was not the first brand symbol and may not be the last. This version of the symbol was created in 1997, I cannot give credit to who because the designers name isn’t stated on any source, but it states that many hierarchies in the company had say in the new development. The symbol stands for Mazda’s determination to “pursue ongoing improvements to drive powerful, continuous growth”. The pair of wings shaped like a letter M in an oval display all of that. The V-shaped wings are also stand for the company’s flexible thinking, creativity, vitality, kindness and resilience. Daring to stand up to seemingly impossible challenges and standing against all odds to pursue its dream. Mazda believes with new technology they can developed from overcoming tough challenges, and the spirit of Mazda lives on in its brand symbol even if continues to change over the years. You can check out the history of their logo here.
