Graphic Design: The New Basics

In the book Graphic Design: The New Basics by Ellen Lupton and Jennifer Cole Phillips, I specifically chose the topic of “rhythm and balance” because it is something I personally struggle with when taking on a project. I had no idea that repetition had an important factor in creating richness and balance within ones design. In the text it states, “A symmetrical design, which has the elements on at least two sides along a common axis, is inherently stable”. It is something I never put thought in, I usually impulsively put my ideas onto screen without thinking of format. It was interesting to have Lupton and Phillips put it into perspective. The repeated item is called rhythm.
